Brunswick Veterinary Clinic reopened on January 29, 2020 under the leadership of experienced area veterinarian Tarra Williams, DVM. But this new face was joined by the familiar husband-and-wife team of Jay Schuff DVM and Rebecca Hahn DVM, who founded the clinic back in 1986. Dr. Williams, a 2007 UC Davis graduate, was born and raised in Carmichael and is extremely excited to lead the future of such a beloved and long-standing local institution. While new to working in town, Dr. Williams may have already treated some of your four-legged family members: her former practice is the primary referral hospital for the Grass Valley region.
Drs. Schuff and Hahn retired in 2011, 25 years after founding Brunswick. Now they have come out of retirement to team up with Dr. Williams to provide high-quality veterinary care and friendly and professional customer service, which have been the hallmarks of Brunswick Veterinary Clinic.
Services We Offer
Your pet’s health is always our number one priority, which is why for most pets we recommend annual wellness exams to ensure that your animal companion remains in good health. If your pet is a senior–over seven for dogs, over nine for cats–we strongly suggest twice-yearly exams and blood screenings. That’s because pets age more rapidly than humans, meaning disease and illness develop faster as well.
Brunswick Veterinary Clinic’s veterinarian-performed physical exams comprehensively assess every aspect of your pet’s health.
While some people might laugh at the idea of brushing their pet’s teeth or taking them for a dental cleaning, the fact is that by age three, 80% of dogs and 70% of cats have some evidence of periodontal disease. Periodic dental exams help maintain proper oral hygiene and prevent future problems. Brunswick Veterinary Clinic offers complete pet oral health services, including dental exams, annual dental cleanings, dental x-rays and extractions.
Surgery is often the most effective way to treat many serious injuries and disorders, and Brunswick Veterinary Clinic is proud to offer state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. Our hospital provides a full range of surgical services ranging from standard spaying and neutering to advanced, highly specialized procedures. If you are considering veterinary surgery for your pet, please contact us to schedule a consultation with your Brunswick Veterinary Clinic veterinarian.
Vaccinations, along with other preventative measures such as annual wellness exams and parasiticides, are key to ensuring that your pet lives as long and happy of a life as possible. Keeping your pet up to date on immunizations and booster shots — as well as parasite prevention — is a highly effective way to prevent many common diseases and infections like distemper and rabies. Beyond those core vaccines, your pet’s age, lifestyle, and likely exposure to certain diseases will be evaluated before we recommend additional inoculations.
